[P5/6 Science: Photosynthesis/Cells]: Photosynthesis is a process through which light energy is absorbed by plants and other organisms to convert carbon dioxide, water and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds such as sugars. It occurs most widely in plants with green pigmented (chlorophyll) leaves, though algae and certain bacteria are well-known to photosynthesise. Here is a fascinating example of one such organism.
