The Founders

David was a Singapore government scholar graduating from the University of Manchester, UK, with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with First Class Honours.  As a reward for good work performance, a postgraduate scholarship was awarded to him to study in the USA, graduating with an M.Sc in Operations Research.  In addition, his teaching qualification via a Graduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Auckland, NZ, has enabled him to teach many primary, secondary and college students in school.

Violet holds a B.Sc. majoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the NUS, an MBA from Golden Gate University, USA, as well as an Advanced Certificate in TEFL for English language teaching.  After working for a period of time in MNCs, she moved on to teaching at the Singapore Polytechnic as well as guiding primary, secondary and JC students to achieve their maximum potential through private tuition. For the past over 10 years, many groups of students have achieved success under her guidance, some of which have stayed on with her from primary to JC level!

Mind Centre's Background

Our tuition business was started in 2001 in Serangoon Gardens. Since then, we have relocated to our current premises at Serangoon Central, just a 3-minute walk from Serangoon MRT station. We have also expanded to other locations at Bedok and Bishan, looking after the academic needs of students ranging from Primary to Junior College levels.

We are passionate about nurturing young minds to 'Unleash their Best'. Having achieved well academically ourselves through the 'longer and more difficult' route, we realised that there are certain key teaching techniques which can be employed to enable students to 'short-cut' their learning and master the subject. As a result, students are able to study efficiently and perform well in examinations, often securing 'A's and mulitple grade improvements. In addition, we used various motivational and goal-setting techniques which helped challenge our students to reach for higher goals.

These techniques, which are used in certain brain research organisations and not consistently used in schools, have helped foster a positive and enjoyable learning environment for our students, past and present.

Join us today and embark on an exciting journey to educational success!

Yours sincerely,

David & Violet Lim
